The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is a public research university with multiple campuses throughout the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas. It is the southernmost member of the University of Texas System. UTRGV was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 after the consolidation of the University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College and the University of Texas Pan American.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Department of Physics in Edinburg, TX, part of the College of Sciences, offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs providing students with a strong foundation in fundamental physics principles. Through hands-on learning and extensive research opportunities, students explore diverse areas from astronomy and astrophysics to medical physics and nanotechnology. The department features state-of-the-art facilities including the Center for Gravitational Wave Astronomy and the Center for Advanced Radio Astronomy, and is involved with the STARGATE initiative.
