She has been a valued presence in the Kinesiology Department at Point Loma Nazarene University since joining as Part-Time Faculty in 2008. Her commitment to the student experience also shone brightly during her decade as Intramural Director from 2012 to 2022, where she played a key role in boosting student involvement in physical activities across campus.
Her path in health sciences and education is built on a strong academic foundation. Dr. Ward began her studies at Point Loma Nazarene University, earning a B.A. in Physical Education with a focus on Teaching and Coaching. She then pursued an M.A. in Kinesiology from California State University, Fresno, specializing in Sports Psychology and Sports Administration, before completing her education with a Ph.D. in Health Science, concentrating on Health Promotion and Wellness, from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.
Dr. Ward's research passion lies in understanding how people perceive wellness, exploring effective health and wellness promotion strategies, and uncovering what motivates individuals to exercise. Her work aims to shed light on the intricate ways people interact with wellness, with the ultimate goal of helping create environments that support lasting healthy habits.
